Sofina Lin LAc, PTA
Sofina has been working in the healthcare field for over 20 years. With her years of past experience as a physical therapist assistant, and her current knowledge and skills as an acupuncturist, she views the body differently to help patients reach their optimal health. Sofina received her Bachelors in Health Science before pursuing her interest in hands-on, manual work in physical medicine. Sofina’s personal experience with alternative medicine inspired her to pursue further education in Chinese medicine at Bastyr University. Her background helps to merge both a western and eastern medicine approach toward integrative healing using acupuncture needles and Tuina hands-on work. Engaging both the musculoskeletal and meridian systems allow the body to rebalance the local issue, as well as work on a systemic level to promote healing which can maintain and prevent further injuries or disorders.
What is healing? Healing starts with utilizing our senses and with being heard. Our focus is on listening to the patient on all levels--the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of who we are. Touch. Touch is essential to human life. We rely substantially on touch by conducting a palpatory exam each visit to allow the body to map out where we each as individuals manifest our various ailments. Our bodies show us everyday by way of function how we masterfully compensate. We can watch how our bodies move, how our systems respond and signal us in various ways to reveal pieces of the puzzle. Integrative care not only involves various practitioners working collaboratively for the patient, but also involves the patient as the central core to be a strong participant in the path toward health and well-being. Together we can tease out the root of the issue and understand your body as a whole.
We strive to bridge ancient traditional Chinese medicine with modern western physical medicine of today. By utilizing 3,000 year old healing practices with current science and technology, we can combine the best of both worlds to create optimal well-being. It is our day-to-day choices and lifestyles that influence our overall whole health. Reflective perspective on how we live and desire to live our lives is a starting point to create change.
